Beyond the Fence explores the characteristics of a transitional neighborhood located in Denver, Colorado. A neighborhood in between old and new, the photographs tell a story of what lies in between and in wait behind the fences. The images are inspired by my fascination with trespassing and the camera’s ability to penetrate and observe the obscure and hidden.

My focus for Beyond the Fence is to elevate and document this urban space that has been left behind or seen as in disrepair. As in most cities around the country you can drive half a mile in any direction and find pockets of communities that have been forgotten and have created a culture all its own.

Surpassing the fence, I gain access to unseen areas, creating a connection between the subject matter of the unseen community and the viewer passing through.
