as i remember it…, explores the concept of “memory work”, tracing my identity through defining moments and memories. Working within this concept, the two part series evolves with different approaches as it moved from a constructed narrative in the studio to the actual locations of the remembered event.
Selected memories relating to these events are expressed through objects and staged moments that evoke deep emotions. The photographs reflect revelations about abuse and foisted shame into autobiographical context. The images purged from my mind shape into something physical to create a connection between the subject matter and the unseen.
