A visual artist for over 20 years, Lee LaBier’s autobiographical, confessional art examines the formation of identity utilizing photography, video and installation.
LaBier operates and owns an arts concierge business, is an artist and curator. She received a Bachelor of Art History Degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a BFA in Photography from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Born in New York she currently resides in Denver, Colorado.
Using self-portraits to record her transitioning identity, LaBier attempts to comprehend and express the transformations throughout her life. She investigates its essence. How and why physical realities and illusions are displayed to become representations of our acquired genders and identities.
“It is not only my identity but also how I identify within myself that activated this process.” Her artwork has been shown internationally and nationally.
